Another wow! Ancient Roman presence throughout the city, from 2 centuries BC! Several "ruins" to view and explore. Plus medieval churches beyond description in engineering, construction and magnificence, adorned with hundreds of astounding statues and paintings.
Big WOW for big Barcelona, a major city indeed! Metro area has 3 millions busy souls, all of whom seem to be roaming the streets! The bustle, the shops, the markets, the history. Creative architecture abounds. Hola! Sitges, Spain is a trendy beach town of 28,000 just south of Barcelona, a short train ride away. Thanks to the off season, the town is quiet so we can find affordable accommodations overlooking the Mediterranean. Having no car means we now walk everywhere. No wonder folks are trimmer here.
Wow, what a special "old town" this university city in the Provence-Cote d'Azur region of southern France has! A labyrinth of quaint cobblestone streets, each strewn with tiny shops, cafes and bakeries....and the markets are beyond impressive! These bustling daily markets are filled with beautifully displayed fruits, vegetables, and cooked local items. We join the locals and do our daily shopping there ~ bon appetit'!
More Aix en Provence....
Home of the stars... And big money. We wore shades...
Located on the French Riviera, at the foot of the French Alps, Nice is the 5th largest city in France. Great historical Old Town in center of the city, even in the chilly rain.
Quaint, old town between Nice and Cannes. Very strollable...
